The Reality of Tragedy

It probably happened again,

I think reality just set in.

We never value treasures till

bad news bout a friend's kin.

We ride on our high horse

then life knocks us back down.

Then we try to show our teeth

but our smile's just a frown.

It's sad, really, no one deserves

the pain of a close loss.

But then we care too much bout

the pain from a winning toss.

Then we look them in the eye

and tell them we feel their pain

but could never realize that

they'll never be the same.

We got it better than we know.

So much better than the rest.

But when life come at us we're

so unprepared for its test.

I've seen some bad things,

things that you will never know,

but you've seen some things

that away they'll never go.

Damn, why do we always

think we got it worse

when in reality we should know

that this life is full of hurts.

I could never say I'm better,

I can't walk in your shoes.

But, believe when I say

we've all sang the blues.

And though I can't change it

or live what you lived through,

Just know that I'm here

and that I feel for you.

I'll be there for you

if you need me to.

Maybe you don't

maybe you do,

but I'll see it through.

And maybe, just maybe,

I feel pain too

And maybe, just maybe,

I need you.
