Dear God,
Please forgive me
but who are you?
So many names
learned from a pew.
They preach love
and we repeat.
But Church ends,
and love we beat.
We learn to turn
the other cheek.
But we turn it
to the weak.
It's so bleak.
I want to believe
without a doubt
but I'm in the dark
feeling life out.
I try to see you
in what we do.
How can you bare
the bad we do?
Your image made
us, so they say.
Then why is it
so hard to pray
when times are
good, and fine.
Only when low,
please help divine.
I know you're there,
oh higher being.
Please blame me
not, for not seeing.
People care too much
for your scripture.
Then we all lose,
the bigger picture.
I'm tired of the
words they repeat.
For their words never
leave their seat.
So forgive, my
absence of Church.
In the world,
for you I search.
Amen.
